Turtle Tails

This big mama was gracious enough to NOT bite my head off when I photographed her.  I wish I had included a shot of my foot next to her for perspective.  As it was I ran across the field and through a creek to get these images.  I had my 35mm 1.4 on my camera at the time. I had to get within inches of her to shoot. She could have easily taken out my lens or my fingers!  Her shell was at least 18 inched long. I can only imagine what she has experienced in her lifetime. I have so much respect for these creatures. If there are any turtle experts out there, please share any knowledge you may have about this species. Enjoy:-)
